THE FRENCH ALPS - Haute-Savoie Region

Châtel is located between Lake Geneva and Mount Blanc, it is well placed on the “Portes du Soleil” circuit where the world's biggest lift-linked ski area offering 650km (406 miles) of slopes.
Our camper will spend their holiday in a typical mountain chalet in the center of the village of Châtel, an old Savoyard village with a long farming tradition.

HAUTE-SAVOIE- FRANCE 24 French Campers 3 Foreign students per group

Campers will live among “the locals” who will share with them through the different activities offered during the program, their knowledge of the local fauna and flora, as well as the traditions of this beautiful region of France.

Lodging : Our typical chalet built in 1970, 3 storey high and fully remodeled, offers rooms 4 to 6 beds (116 beds total) with shower facilities in each bedroom. A large dining-room with a view on the mountains, 4 activity rooms. It is located only a few minutes away from the center of the village.

Theme

During their stayour campers will discover the beauty of nature surrounding this beautiful region of France (the Dranse Valley) as they take part in a multitude of sports activities!

Activities

River rafting: Going down the Dranse River (1 session )

River boarding (or Hydrospeed): wearing fins to navigate easily in river currents, our campers will learn new swimming techniques! Wetsuits, gloves, booties, helmets and knee pads are worn as protection from the cold and from rocks. (1 session)

Rock climbing: 1 session with a professional instructor

Hiking: hiking trip with a mountain guide (night in a refuge)

Deval-Kart: The pleasure of driving, controlled skiding, the discovery of new sensations, without any noise!

Bob-Luge: supervised by a professional instructor, thrilling!

RALLYE TRECK (2 days) mountain biking:

Our campers, divided in groups of 8 to 10, will organize a 2 day trip, either upstream towards “Les Portes du Soleil” and the Swiss border, or downstream towards the Dranse Valley. They will establish their route (itinerary), prepare their menus, do the shopping and prepare their equipment.

During their trip, our campers will stay in a typical Savoyard mountain hut!

Activities will be scheduled(programmed) according to the wishes of the children
and the propositions of the teaching staff.

Choice of Field Trips:

- A day at the swimming pool in Châtel (old typical Savoyard village)
- Visit of a local farm,
...Relaxing near a lake beneath the French Alps helps bring home the full grandeur of the setting (we will always find time for this activity)!

10 days session :       

- 1 Rafting or Hydrospeed session
- 1 Rock climbing session,
- 1 Dévalkart or Bob-luge session,
- 1 Mountain biking trip (2 days / 1 night camping), 
- 1 Choice of Field trip/ visit,
