THE FRENCH ALPS - Haute-Savoie Region
Our campers will spend their holiday in a typical mountain chalet in the center of the village of Châtel, an old Savoyard village with a long farming tradition.

Our campers will live among “the locals” who will share with them through different activities their knowledge of the local fauna and flora, as well as the traditions of this beautiful region of France.

Today Châtel has a strong tourism infrastructure, located between Lake Geneva and Mount Blanc, it is well placed on the “Portes du Soleil” circuit, with the world's biggest lift-linked ski area offering 650km (406 miles) of slopes.

Lodging : Our typical chalet built in 1970, 3 storey high and fully remodeled, offers rooms 4 to 6 beds (116 beds total) with shower facilities in each bedroom. A large dining-room with a view on the mountains, 4 activity rooms. It is located only a few minutes away from the center of the village.

Activities

PARAGLIDING:

In this country, the sky belongs to the jackdaws and only gliders get to share their freedom…flying over the world, what an incredible sensation!

The Paragliding School"Les Pantins d'Eole" will give our campers a special training of 12 hours (3x4 hours):

- Learning body movements, learning how to inflate the glider
- Exercises on land first, left and right turns, changing directions
- Learning how to control the glider which will provide a solid foundation for take-offs during flight exercises.
- Practicing from a small hill (50 m.) with direct radio assistance by the instructors.

- Big flight accompanied by a professional instructor (two seats), experiencing take off and landing, mobility in the air, “you are now flying!”

  WATER SPORTS :

 - River Rafting : Going down the Dranse River accompanied by a professional guide. 1 session.

- Hot Dog: You'll have the time of your life on this "water weenie" designed for 1 to 3 riders. DARE YOU to climb on, hang on and have some serious fun going down river!

- River boarding (or Hydrospeed): wearing fins to navigate easily in river currents, our campers will learn new swimming techniques! Wetsuits, gloves, booties, helmets and knee pads are worn as protection from the cold and from rocks. (1 session)

RALLY TRECK:

Either upstream towards “Les Ports du Soleil” and the Swiss border, or downstream towards the Drones Valley, Thonon-les-Bains and the Lake Geneva, our campers will organize their own biking trip: 3 days / 2 nights.

Activites will be scheduled (programmed) according to the wishes of the children and the propositions of the teaching staff.

Choice of Field Trips:

- Shopping in Châtel, a typical old Savoyard village.

- Camping trip on the shores of Lake Geneva (also called Lake Leman), located half in France and half in Switzerland, this is the largest natural freshwate lake in western Europe (582 km²) . Relaxing near the lake beneath the French Alps helps bring home the full grandeur of the setting!
