Camp Location

THE FRENCH ALPS - Haute-Savoie Region

The Savoyard village of Châtel is located between Lake Geneva and Mount Blanc, it is well placed on the “Portes du Soleil” one of the biggest ski areas in the world.

Our camper will spend their holiday in a typical mountain chalet in the center of the village.

Lodging : Our typical chalet built in 1970, 3 storey high and fully remodeled, offers rooms 4 to 6 beds (116 beds total) with shower facilities in each bedroom. A large dining-room with a view on the mountains, 4 activity rooms. It is located only a few minutes away from the center of the village.

Activities

INITIATION AND DISCOVERY OF THE PRACTICE OF SKIING: :

This activity will be supervised by professional instructors (ESF teachers / ‘Ecole Française de Ski”): 3 half-days of skiing including 3 lessons (2 hours)

Then the children will practice this activity at their own rhythm supervised by the camp counselors. The objective is to learn and to progress while sharing a good time with friends.

Skiing in the Alps is a true pleasure... The Châtel domain offers skiing for all; beginners and intermediates are very well served while advanced skiers get to practice their favorite sport on the red and black slopes in one of the most famous ski resort in the world!

DOG SLEDDING: 3 sessions (2 hours)
Dog sledding is truly a fun and adventurous activity. Accompanied by a professional instructor (musher) our group of campers will learn how to harness a dog, bootie a dog, water and unharness the dogs after the run. 

They will take a ride and drive their own dog sled (2 children per sled). They will also learn to recognize the different type of dogs (Huskys, Malamutes, Greenland)….  An activity full of and emotions!

DISCOVERY OF THE REGION - WORKSHOPS

- Snow games (2 sessions) : snow ball battles, sled races, building igloos and of course snow man competitions!…. So much fun!

- Visit of a local farm (the farm of Mr. Mouthon) (2 hours): discover how the famous cheese of Abundance is made.

- Arts & crafts workshop : the children will build a wooden chalet, a nice souvenir to take back home, through this workshop they will learn about the typical architecture of the chalets (homes) of the Val d’Abondance region

- Cabaret and evening shows,
- Evening lantern show on the slopes of the Crêt Béni ski resort
- Parties and birthday parties!

Field Trips

During camp, beside the visit of the local cheese factory (farm), our campers will discover this beautiful region of France during the many activities offered.
