Camp Location

VILLAGE DES ENFANTS DE MOULÈS (Base Camp).

Located on top of a tree-covered hill, at the border of the "Causse de Larzac", in the South Aveyron region, our camp is a real Medieval village built by farmers and shepherds in the early 15th century.Isolated, it has kept its authenticity and charm through the centuries, with its traditional architecture, its stables, its communal oven, and its typical Medieval passages.

Children and Counselors sleep in rooms of 5 to 8 beds with shower facilities. Our center offers plenty of rooms for activities, a library and a swimming pool are also available in the village.

Some groups during certain activities sleep in bungalow tents (5 to 6 beds) on cement floors, with lights, beds and closets. The tents are located in the woods at the border of the village, in the shade!

A few steps away, a professional horseback riding center offers our campers a special activity room with educational books and objects relating to the history of horseback riding in the region. Well trained ponies are there for children to enjoy each day! (all levels).

Theme

During their stay children will learn the skills to become an squire (Ecuyer), a Knight's apprentice (10 Days: 3 x 2 hrs) ...And later become a Knight (10 days: 3x 2hrs) : horseback riding, making of weapons, creation and painting of the coat of arms…and of course learning how to respect the Honor Code of the Knights Templar.

Activities

Medieval workshops: campers experience the medieval lifestyle by making costumes, tools and weapons (leather and stone work), pottery, sculpture, or baking bread in the village's old communal oven.

Initiation to the techniques of Medieval Calligraphy

Pony / Horseback riding (20 days session: 6 two hour sessions or / 10 days session: 3 two hours session).
Horseback riding itinerary and camping trip.

Theatre: introduction to theatre, improvisation contests, juggling, acrobatics, dance and music, participation and production of a Medieval Show in front of a real audience!

Other Activities:
Hiking, swimming, arts & crafts, Juggling sessions, Medieval games and Medieval banquets.

At the end of the session, our campers will be dubbed knights and will receive a special Certificate to take home !

Activities will be scheduled (programmed) according to the wishes of the children and the propositions of the teaching staff.

Choice of Field Trips:

Treasure hunt in the fortified Templar City of St. Eulalie de Cernon, with its network of medieval streets, its towers and walls were built in the 15th Century by the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem

Visit of the fortified Medieval village of La Couvertoirade and its authentic Templar castle and church built in the 12th Century.

Visit of the Medieval castle of Montaigut.

Camping trip (1 day): night in St. Eulalie de Cernon, the most well-preserved commandery in France!
