10 Days or 20 Days - July and August (Dates and Prices)

Camp Location

LA CAZOTTE - EQUESTRIAN CENTER
Our camp is located near the village of Saint-Affrique in the “Parc Naturel des Grands Causses”; a region designated as a National Parc for its natural beauty.

Situated on 40 hectares of land, offering miles of trails, our equestrian center provides a large area of covered training facilities, with indoor and outdoor arenas, jumping arenas, course of obstacles, a club-house, a cross-country course, and of course stables, 50 ponies and horses and all necessary equipment.

Our campers will be sharing rooms of 4 to 5 beds with shower facilities. A restaurant, an amphitheater, a stage, reading rooms, a TV room and many activity rooms are available as well as a gymnasium with a basket ball court, a volley ball court, a dojo for martial art, a indoor rock climbing wall and plenty of space for other sport activities.

Theme

During the Middle Ages, an Ecuyer (squire) was a knight's apprentice. He would act as the Knight's assistant, while learning the skills necessary to become a knight himself one day.

Activities

First Stage: Initiation Period

Time during which campers will learn the techniques of horseback riding and also how to take good care of their pony. Progressively, a bond between the children and the animals will take place... as they learn to know each other during activities. (Horseback riding: 20 days / 8 x 2 hours, 10 days / 5 x 2 hours)

2nd Stage: Horseback Riding Itinerary:

Time during which the children will perfect their horseback riding skills as they take small trips through the Causse de Larzac, riding their ponies to play games or to participate in jousting tournaments (wearing Medieval costumes of course!). As they explore the area surrounding the village, they will uncover clues that will lead them to the treasure of the Knights Templar.

3rd Stage: Medieval Workshop:

Campers, during that time, will experience the medieval lifestyle making costumes, tools and weapons, preparing themselves to simulate a crusade: following the footsteps of the Knights Templar in order to find their lost treasure!

At the end of the session, each camper will be dubbed KNIGHTS, and will receive a Certificate to take back home !

Other Activities
Hiking, swimming, arts & crafts, medieval games and banquets.

Choice of Field Trips:

Treasure hunt in the fortified Templar city of St. Eulalie de Cernon, with its network of medieval streets, its towers and walls built in the 15th Century by the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem AND/OR in the fortified medieval village of La Couvertoirade and its authentic Templar castle and church built in the 12th Century.

Camping trip (1 day): in St. Eulalie de Cernon, the most well-preserved commandery in France!

Activities will be scheduled(programmed) according to the wishes of the children and the propositions of the teaching staff.

For 10 days session :
- 5 horseback riding sessions (2 hours)
- 4 sessions of Medieval workshops/Medieval lifestyle
- 1 historical visit (castle, or medieval city)
- 2 Sessions Aqualand and shopping
- 1 hiking/camping trip (1 night)
- 1 Medieval jousting tournament
- 1 Medieval banquet

For 20 days session :    
- 10 horseback riding sessions (2 hours)
- 8 sessions of Medieval workshops/Medieval lifestyle
- 2 historical visit (castle, or medieval city)
- 4 Sessions at the swimming pool center in St. Affrique and shopping
- 2 hiking/camping trip (1 night)
- 1 Medieval jousting tournament
- 1 Medieval banquet
